Four Bears Named to CSC Academic All-District® One Men's Swimming & Diving Team
BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Four members of the Bridgewater State University men's swimming & diving program have been selected to the 2024-2025 Academic All-District® One Division III Men's Swimming & Diving Team by the College Sports Communicators (CSC).
BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Four members of the Bridgewater State University men's swimming & diving program have been selected to the 2024-2025 Academic All-District® One Division III Men's Swimming & Diving Team by the College Sports Communicators (CSC).
Earning the honor from Bridgewater State are senior Thomas Roch (Chelmsford, Mass.), junior Desmond Ng (Petaling Jaya, Malaysia) and sophomores Drew Lawrence (Winchendon, Mass.) and Sean Taylor (South Dennis, Mass.). Roch is making his second straight appearance on the Academic All-District® One Team.
The Bears accounted for four of the 13 student-athletes from the Little East Conference (LEC) named to the Academic All-District® One Division III Men's Swimming & Diving Team.
The 2024-2025 Academic All-District® Men’s Swimming & Diving Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances in the pool and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes swimming & diving honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
To be eligible for all-academic honors, a student-athlete must be a significant contributor, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his current institution and be nominated by his sports information director. A student-athlete must have also competed in at least five competitions or finish top-eight at a conference meet.
A native of Chelmsford, Massachusetts, Roch is majoring in computer science and checks in with a 3.75 grade point average. Ng, who hails from Petaling Jaya, Malaysia, currently sports a 3.94 GPA at Bridgewater State while majoring in finance. A Winchendon, Massachusetts product, Lawrence is majoring in computer science while maintaining a 3.74 GPA. Taylor, who calls South Dennis, Massachusetts home, is a political science major with a 3.77 GPA.
Roch, Ng, Lawrence and Taylor helped the BSU men's swimming & diving team placed third at the Little East Championships back in February.
Roch finished seventh in both the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle and 11th in the 50 butterfly while competing on a trio of fourth-place relay teams (200 medley, 200 freestyle, 400 freestyle) at the Little East Championships.
Ng earned All-Little East First Team honors in the 200 backstroke and 200 breaststroke as well as second team accolades in the 400 individual medley and 800 freestyle relay. He also competed on the fourth-place 400 freestyle relay.
Lawrence garnered All-Little East Third Team status in the 100 individual medley and finished fifth in the 200 individual medley and sixth in the 400 individual medley.
Taylor finished ninth in both the 200 backstroke and 1,650 freestyle as well as 11th in the 1,000 freestyle at the conference championship meet.
