Men's Soccer Drops 5-1 Decision to UMass Boston

BOSTON, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University men's soccer team had a three-game winning streak ended on Monday afternoon.

The Bears allowed three first-half goals in a 5-1 non-conference loss to the University of Massachusetts Boston at Boston College High School.

BSU slipped to the .500 mark at 5-5 while the Beacons, a member of the Little East Conference, improved to 5-2-3.

The teams had played to a 1-1 tie a year ago, and UMass Boston now has a 13-9-1 lead in the series.

Five different players had goals for the Beacons with senior Ryan Lima (Minas Gerais, Brazil) scoring a goal and adding an assist.

It was the second-highest goal total allowed by BSU this season.

UMass Boston took a 1-0 lead 15:44 into the game on a goal by junior Rafael Gross (Minas Gerais, Brazil) from Lima. Gross scored into the lower left portion of the cage.

At 30:01, freshman Gustavo De Paula (Framingham, Mass.) made it 2-0 with a goal into the lower right part of the cage, assisted by sophomore Amir Lahkiky (Melrose, Mass.).

UMass Boston made it 3-0 at the break when junior Nick Braganca (Beverly, Mass.) scored at 40:53 from freshman Cam Ramos (Hopedale, Mass.).

BSU got on the scoreboard at 55:06 with senior Filippo Mucci (Vineyard Haven, Mass.) scoring and freshman Ansley Glemaud (Boston, Mass.) assisting. For Mucci, the goal marked his thrid of the season and 16th of his career. Glemaud notched his first collegiate point.

The Beacons went ahead, 4-1, at 59:19 on a goal by sophomore Felipe DeAndrade (Westborough, Mass.), assisted by sophomore Parker Hamilton (Lexington, Mass.).

Lima added a goal at 62:11 with junior Toby Prabhu-Schlosser (Brookline, Mass.) getting the assist.

BSU junior goalkeeper Kyle Sullivan (Enfield, Conn.) made a pair of saves.

UMass Boston freshman Mario Hajhdi (Ilioupoli, Greece) had two saves before sophomore William Martinez (Lynn, Mass.) played the final eight minutes.

UMass Boston had a 12-10 advantage in overall shots, 7-3 in shots on goal.

BSU is idle until Saturday when it hosts Worcester State University at noon at Mazzaferro Field.

The Bears, Lancers and the Massachusetts Maritime Academy begin the week 3-1 atop the MASCAC standings.

UMass Boston plays on Saturday at noon, hosting Western Connecticut State.
