BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University men's soccer team climbed back to the .500 mark Tuesday night.

Junior goalkeeper Kyle Sullivan (Enfield, Conn.) recorded his second shutout as the Bears stopped Emerson College, 2-0, in a non-conference match at Mazzaferro Field.

BSU scored a goal in each half and Sullivan made three saves to earn the shutout. Earlier this month, he posted a shutout against Anna Maria College.

The Bears are now 4-4 and have won two straight. Emerson is 3-3-2 after losing to BSU in the first meeting between the two programs.

Junior Nicholas Ribeiro (Bellingham, Mass.) gave the Bears a 1-0 lead at 8:39 with senior Gavin Norton (Rockland, Mass.) assisting.

A short pass from Norton set up Ribeiro for a shot from just over 30 yards away that sailed into the top left corner of the net.

The Emerson goalkeeper came out to clear the ball but it went to Norton and Ribeiro scored his team-leading fifth goal while the keeper was trying to get back.

Junior Tyler Chang (Acushnet, Mass.) gave BSU an insurance goal at 76:02 with senior Filippo Mucci (Vineyard Haven, Mass.) assisting.

Mucci sent a restart into the six and Chang headed the ball in for his first collegiate goal.

The Bears outshot the Lions, 7-6 and Emerson had a 6-3 edge in corner kicks.

BSU returns to MASCAC player on Saturday morning, traveling to Westfield State for an 11 a.m. game.

Emerson will host Salve Regina on Saturday at 1 p.m.
