A former standout at Division II Merrimack College, Aaron Strothers joined the Bridgewater State coaching staff in the summer of 2022.

Strothers was a four-year player at Merrimack, appearing in 108 career games at forward for the Warriors. He helped his teams to a 70-44 record on his career, including two NCAA Division II Tournament appearances (2009, 2010). Strothers is a member of Merrimack’s 1,000-point club and 500-rebound club. He completed his most productive game with 32 points (14-16 FGs), 14 rebounds, and 0 turnovers against Bloomfield College. Strothers holds the record for All-Time Highest Career Field Goal Percentage at 64% and led the team in blocks multiple seasons.

In 2013, Strothers was a member of the Cape Verde National Team for a summer. Coincidentally, the Bridgewater State Men’s Basketball team also traveled to Cape Verde that summer. The two teams competed against each other and were involved in community activities for the youth. Following that, he played professionally for Escazu Basketball in Costa Rica, where he also became involved in youth clinics in the area. In 2021, he received another opportunity to play in Cape Verde for their inaugural professional league, where he won a championship with the Plateau Warriors.

Throughout his career, Strothers has served in a variety of volunteer and coaching roles in the southeastern Massachusetts community. He worked with AAU programs, like the Bay State Jaguars and Expressions South Coast. He volunteered in basketball roles at the Boys & Girls Club and with the Wareham Junior Basketball Association. In 2020, he founded Village Hoops, a local non-profit providing resources for the basketball community.

Strothers graduated from Merrimack in 2012 and holds his Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with a minor in Business Administration. He is currently working towards his MBA here at Bridgewater State University.

Prior to joining the Bears' coaching staff, Aaron served as an assistant coach at UMass Dartmouth from 2017 to 2022. The Corsairs posted an overall record of 81-40 (.669) during his five seasons on the staff. They won a conference championship in 2021 and advanced to the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Division III Tournament in 2022.
