Zuber, Souza Named to 2025 NFHCA Division III Watchlist
BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University junior midfielder Abbie Zuber (Westport, Mass.) and sophomore forward Samantha Souza (Dartmouth, Mass.) have been named to the 2025 National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III Watchlist.
BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University junior midfielder Abbie Zuber (Westport, Mass.) and sophomore forward Samantha Souza (Dartmouth, Mass.) have been named to the 2025 National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III Watchlist.
Zuber and Souza are among 175 student-athletes from 84 Division III institutions to earn a spot on the list which is intended to showcase those field hockey student-athletes with the strongest potential for consideration to the current year’s NFHCA All-Region and All-American teams.
Zuber, who made the All-MASCAC Second Team a year ago, had nine goals and 11 assists for 29 points in 2024 as she led the MASCAC in assists and ranked third in scoring.
Souza was the MASCAC Co-Rookie of the Year after getting 12 goals to go along with two assists for 26 points. She garnered All-MASCAC First Team honors after finishing second among the conference leaders in goals and fifth in scoring.
The duo helped the Bears knock off fourth-seeded Framingham State, 4-1, in the MASCAC Tournament quarterfinals a year ago and stun top-seeded Fitchburg State, 1-0, in the semifinals before dropping a heartbreaking 2-1 decision to second-seeded Westfield State in the title game.
The BSU field hockey team opens the 2025 season on Friday night at seven o'clock as the Bears welcome Plymouth State University to Mazzaferro Field.
