Kayla Littig Named to Field Hockey Coaching Staff

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Bridgewater State University head field hockey coach, Erika Smith, announced the addition of Kayla Littig to her coaching staff. Littig was an outstanding defender at Division II UMass Lowell from 2008 to 2011 as she helped the Riverhawks advance to the National Championship game in each of her four seasons including a national title in 2010.

Littig earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Management and Marketing from UMass this past spring.  She totaled 15 goals and four assist for 34 points over her four seasons on the field hockey team.  In 2011, Littig was named the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division II North Region Player of the Year as well as the Northeast-10 Defensive Player of the Year.  She was also selected to the NCAA All-Tournament Team for leading the River Hawks to their sixth Finals appearance in seven seasons.

Littig, who hails from Carver, Massachusetts, was a two-sport athlete at Carver High School competing on both the field hockey and track and field teams.  She finished her high school field hockey career with 83 goals and 52 assists and was a Carver Reporter All-Star and three-time South Shore League All-Star.  Littig was also an All-State track star and earned Boston Globe All-Scholastic honors in both field hockey and track.
