Cassie Johansen Named Little East Field Hockey Goalkeeper of the Week
BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Bridgewater State University senior Cassie Johansen has been named the Little East Conference Field Hockey Goalkeeper of the Week.
BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Bridgewater State University senior Cassie Johansen has been named the Little East Conference Field Hockey Goaltender of the Week.
Johansen extended her shutout streak to 210 minutes to start the season as she backstopped the Bears to a pair of shutout victories over WPI and Keene State College last week. The Port Jefferson Station, New York native made four saves in a 2-0 win against the Engineers while turning aside five shots in a 1-0 triumph over defending Little East champion and preseason favorite Keene State.
Through three games this season, Johansen is 3-0 with nine saves, three shutouts and a 0.00 goals against average. She leads the conference in shutouts and is tied for the league lead in goals against average and save percentage.
Johansen has started each of the last 23 games for the Bears since taking over the goaltending duties at the start of the 2011 season. She is 16-7 with 101 saves, five shutouts, a 1.69 goals against average and a .732 save percentage.
Johansen and the BSU field hockey team will look to extend their winning streak to four games on Tuesday night when the Bears host non-conference foe Salve Regina University at seven.
