Matt Girard joined the Bridgewater State football coaching staff in the summer of 2025. A native of Suffern, New York, Matt graduated from Western New England University with a bachelor's degree in sport managament as well as a master's degree in coaching and leadership. He played defensive back for the Golden Bears in 2019 and also served as a student assistant coach in 2020 and 2021. Prior to coming to BSU, Matt coached at Plymouth State University (QBs) in 2022, Pace University (TEs) in 2023 and Stephen F. Austin State University (RBs) in 2024.
