Football Reports for Preseason Camp

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University football team began preparation for the 2023 season as over 100 players reported to preseason camp on Thursday and hit the practice field for the first time on Friday morning.

Head Coach Joe Verria's Bears open the 2023 campaign on Saturday, September 2nd when they travel to MIT for a noontime game with the Engineers.

The Bears then welcome WPI for the 2023 home opener on Friday night, September 8th. Prior to the 7:00 PM kickoff, a ceremony will be held to officially name the field in honor of legendary head coach, Peter Mazzaferro.

Bridgewater State will open Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) play on Saturday, September 16th as Plymouth State University comes to town for a noontime matinee affair.

The Bears wrap up the three-game homestand on Saturday, September 23rd as they host Western Connecticut State University at four o'clock.

Back-to-back road games with Fitchburg State University and Worcester State University on Saturday, September 30th (noon) and Friday, October 6th (7:00 PM), respectively, will take the Bears to their bye week.  

The 2023 Homecoming Game on Saturday, October 21st (4:00 PM) will feature MASCAC opponent Westfield State University. The Bears then entertain defending MASCAC champion UMass Dartmouth on Saturday, October 28th at noon.

Bridgewater will wrap up regular season play with a pair of road contests. The Bears head to Framingham State University on Saturday, November 4th (noon). The regular season then culminates with the annual Cranberry Bowl game versus MASCAC rival Massachusetts Maritime Academy. The 44th version of the Cranberry Bowl will take place at Clean Harbors Stadium in Buzzards Bayt on Saturday, November 11th at noon.
