BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Here's a look at the week ahead (Jan. 27-Feb. 2) for the Bridgewater State University athletics teams:
TUESDAY
MEN'S BASKETBALL, at home, Trinity College, 7:00 PM: The nationally ranked Bantams visit the Tinsley Center for the first time since Jan. 17, 2012.
Trinity (15-3) is ranked No. 14 in the D3hoops.com Division III national poll. The Bantams went 30-2 last season, losing in the semifinal round of the NCAA tournament to Trine University, 66-54.
BSU lost to the Bantams in their last meeting on Dec. 31, 2023 at the Trinity Holiday Invitational, 89-75.
The Bears (7-11) are on a two-game winning streak, improving to 2-4 in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference. This is the last of 13 non-conference games for BSU.
FRIDAY
MEN'S TRACK & FIELD, at the Roxbury Community College Open, 9:00 AM: The Bears travel to Boston for the final meet before the MASCAC Championships, which will take place at Wheaton College on Feb. 16.
WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD, at the Roxbury Community College Open, 9:00 AM: The Bears prepare for next month's MASCAC Championships with a meet at the Reggie Lewis Center.
SATURDAY
WRESTLING, Quad meet at Roger Williams University: The Bears travel to Rhode Island to go against Plymouth State at 11 a.m., host Roger Williams at 1 p.m. and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy at 3 p.m.
The Bears have another quad meet scheduled for the Kelly Gym on Feb. 14.
MEN'S SWIMMING & DIVING, at Plymouth State University, 2:00 PM: The Bears have their final meet before the Little East Championships, which take place in Wellesley Feb. 13-16.
BSU defeated the Panthers, 195-93, at home last season.
WOMEN'S SWIMMING & DIVING, at Plymouth State University, 2:00 PM: The Bears defeated the Panthers, 209-59, at home last season.
Following the trip to New Hampshire, BSU will be idle until taking part in the Little East Championships Feb. 13-16.
MEN'S BASKETBALL, at Salem State, Noon: The Bears open the second half of the MASCAC schedule by playing the Vikings.
BSU lost to Salem State on Jan. 8, 102-79, when Tyrese Rhe scored 29 points for the Vikings.
The Bears had won four straight against Salem State. The Vikings are 7-11, 4-1 in the MASCAC. Salem State and Westfield State are tied for first place and meet on Wednesday night.
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL, at Salem State, 2:00 PM: The Bears begin the second half of the MASCAC season against the team that handed them the only conference loss.
BSU (12-6, 4-1 MASCAC) was defeated by Salem State, 90-79, on Jan. 8. The Bears had won 12 straight games against the Vikings since losing in 2018.
Salem State is 9-9 and just one-half game behind first-place BSU at 3-1 in the MASCAC. The Bears are on a five-game winning streak.
