Ashleigh Hartsfield joined the Bridgewater State Athletics & Recreation staff as the Coordinator for the Thornburg Fitness Center/GroupEX/Outdoor Adventure in February of 2026.

Ashleigh recently graduated from BSU with majors in Geography/Environmental Sustainability and Communications/Public Relations. Ashleigh was an accomplished student, evidenced by her Dean’s List status and her Adrian Tinsley Program grant award. She earned the prestigious opportunity to present her research at the NCSS National Conference in Colorado.

As an undergrad, Ashleigh worked in Athletics & Recreation in multiple roles. She helped with Event Promotion alongside Tara Nelson, assisted the Softball team with managerial duties, and wore a variety of hats for fitness & recreation.  Ashleigh not only worked shifts at the fitness center desk and weight room, but she was regularly tasked with training newly hired employees at the start of each semester. In her junior year, Ashleigh became a certified Outdoor Fitness Court Ambassador and Instructor, helping to successfully launch BSU’s Court in the Fall of 2023.

In her senior year, Ashleigh was nominated for Student Employee of the Year and was recognized at the Student Employment End-of-Year Celebration.

Since her graduation, Ashleigh has focused on becoming certified as a CrossFit Coach and gaining experience in leading individuals and groups through strength and conditioning programs at CrossFit Bridgewater.
