BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University sophomore Ava Alves (Taunton, Mass.) has been selected as the Little East Conference (LEC) Women's Tennis Rookie of the Week.

Alves, who was making her collegiate debut, posted a 6-0, 6-1 straight set victory at number six singles in the Bears' season-opening 6-1 victory this past weekend over the University of Saint Joseph.

The BSU women's tennis team will host Roger Williams University on Thursday afternoon at 3:30.
