BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University senior Cailey Simard (Havehill, Mass.) broke one of her own records for the women's swimming & diving team.
Simard had a pair of first-place finishes on the board and set the new mark in the six-dive, 3-meter event.
The Bears lost their dual meet opener to Wheaton College, 212-86, at the Mary Jo Moriarty Swimming Pool Saturday afternoon.
Simard, a three-time Little East Conference champion on both boards during her career, was first in the 3-meter with a score of 356.80 points.
That shatters her previous record of 316.35 in 2024.
Simard was also first in the 1-meter event with 314.80 points.
Simard was also second in the 50-yard butterfly in a time of 30.81 seconds.
The Bears swept the top three places in both diving events against the Lyons.
Behind Simard in 3-meter diving were sophomore Gianna Varady (Highland Park, N.J.) with a score of 250.40 and junior Jillian Hallman (Raynham, Mass.) with 229.58.
In 1-meter diving, freshman Sienna DeLucia (Wallingford, Conn.) was second with a score of 236.70 while Varady took third with 223.90.
DeLucia was also second in the 50-yard breaststroke in a time of 34.41 seconds.
Senior Emily Bradford (Pittsfield, Mass.) was third in the 1,000 freestyle in 12:36.21 and junior Nellie Peecher (Barrington, R.I.) finished third in the 50 backstroke in 35.59 seconds.
Sophomore Evangelina Chaves (Raynham, Mass.) was third in the 50-yard freestyle in 28.20 seconds while freshman Niamh Fallon (Ayer, Mass.) took third in the 100 breaststroke in 1:20.04.
The Bears will be in a tri-meet on Sunday, Nov. 9 in Vermont against Saint Michael's and Maine Maritime Academy.
