BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University women's lacrosse coach Erica Adams has reached the 100-win mark with the program.
The Bears' head coach since 2016, Adams improved her record at BSU to 100-77 Tuesday night with a 14-7 victory over the Massachusetts Maritime Academy at Clean Harbors Stadium.
The Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference win snapped a four-game losing streak for the Bears.
Adams is the program's all-time winningest coach. She surpassed the previous leader, Erika Smith, who went 91-35 in seven seasons at her alma mater.
A 2008 graduate of Nichols College where she played lacrosse and soccer, Adams was the head lacrosse and soccer coach at Pine Manor College (2010-11) and was an assistant lacrosse coach at Mount Ida College (2012), Hendrix College (2013-14) and Norwich University (2014-15).
The Bears scored eight straight goals during the first half and held a 9-2 halftime lead over the Buccaneers.
BSU improved to 4-10 and 2-2 in the MASCAC while Mass. Maritime is 0-10 and 0-4 in the conference.
Senior Ashley Silva (Rowley, Mass.) had three goals and an assist for the Bears while sophomore Lizzy Deacon (Amesbury, Mass.) also had three goals.
Freshman Kate Fitzpatrick (Methuen, Mass.) scored twice and had an assist and senior Meredith Sylvia (Dartmouth, Mass.) scored a pair of goals.
Junior Erin Henn (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) scored a goal to go with two assists.
Mass. Maritime junior Sarah Naar (Milton, Del.) scored all four of her goals in the second half while sophomore Karah Deveau (Harwichport, Mass.) added three goals.
The Buccaneers took a 1-0 lead 2:25 into the game on a goal by Deveau, but BSU scored the next four goals in the first period and then the first four goals of the second period.
Sophomore Taylor Carter (Walpole, Mass.), Sylvia, Henn and Silva made it 4-1 after one period and Deacon (two goals), Fitzpatrick and Silva had the scores in the second period.
Mass. Maritime made it 8-2 with 5:06 left in the half when Deveau scored, but sophomore Sophia Fleurent (Fairhaven, Mass.) answered for the Bears 11 seconds later.
BSU opened a 12-2 lead with 8:50 left in the third period on goals by Fitzpatrick, Sylvia and Silva before the Buccaneers closed the period with goals by Deveau and Naar.
Sophomore Jade Muñoz (Mendon, Mass.) and Deacon had BSU goals in the final period while Naar scored all three of Mass. Maritime's goals in the last 15 minutes.
BSU sophomore Sara Skaff (Lowell, Mass.) recorded the win, making three saves in the first half. Junior Gianna Scarpelli (Medford, Mass.) was the Bears' goalkeeper in the second half and had two saves.
Bridgewater outshot Maritime, 27-14, and finished with a 14-8 edge in draw controls as well as a 27-15 advantage in ground balls. Fleurent led all players with four draw controls.
BSU will be home Saturday at 5 p.m. to face Fitchburg State University on Senior Day at Mazzaferro Field.
Mass. Maritime hosts Worcester State on Friday at 7 p.m.
