2012 ECAC Division III New England Women's Lacrosse All-Star Team (PDF)
BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Bridgewater State University junior defender Shelby Farland has been selected to the 2012 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England Women's Lacrosse All-Star Team.
Farland, a second team selection, anchored a BSU defensive unit which posted a team 8.47 goals against average in 2012. In 20 games, the Fiskdale, Massachusetts product amassed 41 ground balls, 12 caused turnovers and 17 draws to go along with nine goals and three assists.
At the conclusion of the regular season, Farland was named to the New England Women’s Lacrosse Alliance (NEWLA) All-Conference First Team and was also selected as the NEWLA Defensive Player of the Year.
The BSU women’s lacrosse team went 12-8 during the 2012 campaign and 8-0 in conference regular season play. The Bears captured both the NEWLA regular season and tournament championships for the fifth straight season, and advanced to the NCAA Division III Tournament for the third consecutive year.
In 52 games over three seasons with the Bears, Farland has recorded 94 ground balls, 31 draws and 32 caused turnovers as well as 18 goals and five assists. Bridgewater State has posted an overall record of 44-15 (.746) during that time including an impressive 27-1 (.964) mark versus NEWLA opponents.
