BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University senior guard Haley Burchhardt has been selected to play in the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) Senior All-Star Classic to be held on Saturday, March 28th (4:00 PM) at Ainsworth Gymnasium on the campus of Smith College.
Players from around the region were nominated for the honor by their coaches and Sports Information Directors. Coaches then selected the 24 participants through a vote.
Burchhardt averaged ten points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.4 steals in 27 games this season. The Schenectady, New York product also shot 41.9% (104-248) from the floor, 26.6% (17-64) from three-point range and 80.7% (46-57) at the free throw line.
Burchhardt finished the year ranked eighth among the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) leaders in both field goal percentage and made field goals as well as tenth in assists.
A second team All-MASCAC selection, Burchhardt helped the Bears (16-11) capture the MASCAC regular season title for the tenth time in program history with a 13-1 conference mark.
In 104 games (90 starts) over two seasons at Bridgewater State and two at Utica University, Burchhardt accumulated 854 points, 411 rebounds, 202 assists and 127 steals.
Burchhardt is one of four players from the MASCAC competing in the NEWBA Senior All-Star Classic. She is joined by Hannah Lomonoco of Worcester State University as well as Abigail Martin and Kelsey Yelle of Framingham State University.
