Madison Synan Named MASCAC Softball Player of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the second time this season, Bridgewater State University senior catcher Madison Synan has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Softball Player of the Week.

Synan batted .556 (5-for-9) with two doubles, two walks, a run scored and two RBI in the Bears’ MASCAC Championship Series victory over Framingham State. The Quincy, Massachusetts native also posted a .636 on base percentage and a .778 slugging percentage during the best-of-three series.

Synan went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles in a 6-1 game one setback to the Rams, and 3-for-3 with a walk, run and two RBI in BSU's 10-5 victory in the decisive game three.

In 25 games this season, Synan is batting .371 (26-70) with a pair of home runs, six doubles, six walks, 17 runs scored and 20 RBI. She also sports a .430 on base percentage as well as a .543 slugging percentage.

Synan currently ranks fourth in the MASCAC in runs batted in and tenth in slugging percentage. She is also tied for fifth among the conference leaders in both batting average and on base percentage, and tied for eighth in doubles.

In 53 games over three season with the Bears, Synan has posted a career batting average of .320 (48-150) with five home runs, eight doubles, 28 runs scored and 32 RBI. She also has a career ..473 slugging percentage and a .383 on base percentage.

The MASCAC Player of the Week honor marks the second of Synan’s career. She was named MASCAC Rookie of the Week back on April 9th of 2018.

The BSU softball team will begin NCAA Division III Tournament play on Friday, May 21st as the Bears (17-9-1) will compete at a six-team regional hosted by defending Division III champion Texas Lutheran University in Seguin, Texas. The Bears are the number five seed in the regional and will take on second-seeded Emory & Henry College.
