BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University senior centerfielder Alexandra Ruprecht has been selected to the 2020-2021 Academic All-District® One Division III Softball Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Ruprecht and teammate Madison Dana are the first members of the Bridgewater State softball program to earn the CoSIDA Academic All-District® accolade since Amber White garnered back-to-back honors in 2013 and 2014. All told, six different softball Bears have earned the distinction since 2002 including Michaela Ferreira (2011, 2012), Katie Holbrook (2007) and Kim Olson (2004).
Of the 12 District One honorees, Ruprecht and Dana are the only two student-athletes from the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) to be voted to the team. District One is comprised of Massachusetts and Maine.
To be eligible for all-academic honors, a student-athlete must be a starter or a key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director. First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. First, second and third team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in late July.
A native of Kingston, Massachusetts, Ruprecht just wrapped up her final semester as an undergraduate student at Bridgewater State with an impressive overall grade point average of 3.73. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in English with a special education minor and will attend the BSU graduation ceremony in late July at Gillette Stadium. Ruprecht was named to the Dean's List in each of her eight semesters at Bridgewater State and is also a four-time MASCAC Fall/Winter All-Academic Team selection as well as a National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-America Scholar Athlete in 2019.
Ruprecht batted .420 (13-52) in 29 games for the Bears this past season with seven doubles, five home runs, three stolen bases, 23 runs scored and 24 RBI. She also posted a .670 slugging percentage and a .469 on base percentage.
A three-time All-MASCAC selection as well as the conference Rookie of the Year in 2018, Ruprecht helped the BSU softball team captured the 2021 MASCAC Tournament title and earn a spot in the NCAA Division III Tournament. The Bears (17-11-1) competed at the NCAA Division III Seguin, Texas Regional hosted by Texas Lutheran University.
In 117 games over three-plus seasons with the Bears, Ruprecht has posted a career batting average of .331 (199-360) with 23 doubles, one triple, nine home runs, eight stolen bases, 67 runs and 81 RBI.
Ruprecht is expected to return to the Bears' lineup next spring as a graduate student.
