BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the second straight week, Bridgewater State University junior righthander Kelley Reichert has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Softball Pitcher of the Week.
Reichert went 4-0 in four appearances in the circle with one complete game and two wins in relief against Westfield State last week. The Milford, Massachusetts product posted a 1.29 earned run average and fanned 19 batters while walking only three over 16 1/3 innings of work.
Reichert allowed two runs and struck out nine in 8 2/3 innings as she won both games of a MASCAC twinbill with Westfield, and gave up just one run over 7 2/3 innings with ten strikeouts in a pair of non-conference victories over the Owls.
In 14 appearances (ten starts) in the circle this season, Reichert is 8-5 with six complete games and a two shutouts. She has fanned 54 batters in 64 1/3 innings of work and sports a 2.50 earned run average.
Reichert is currently tied for the MASCAC lead in shutouts and ranks second in wins, games started and innings pitched. She is also third in the conference in appearances and strikeouts, and fifth in complete games and ERA.
In 45 games (36 starts) over three seasons with the Bears, Reichert is 19-16 with 25 complete games, five shutouts and one save. She has also struck out 130 batters over 234 innings and has a career ERA of 2.75.
The MASCAC Pitcher of the Week honor marks the fourth of Reichert’s career and second this season.
The BSU softball team is currently 8-7-1 on the season and 5-2-1 in the MASCAC. The Bears host Westfield State University on Friday afternoon for a non-conference doubleheader with the Owls with game one getting underway at 3:00 PM.
