Reichert Headlines Bears’ Eight All-MASCAC Selections

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University junior righthander Kelley Reichert (Milford, Mass.) was selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Pitcher of the Year to highlight the Bears' eight representatives on the 2021 All-MASCAC Softball Team.

Joining Reichert on the All-MASCAC First Team are senior centerfielder Alexandra Ruprecht (Kingston, Mass.), senior catcher Madison Synan (Quincy, Mass.) and sophomore second baseman Kerrin McLaughlin (Haverhill, Mass.).

Junior right fielder Emma Healy (Plymouth, Mass.), junior shortstop Megan Sharon (East Longmeadow, Mass.), sophomore designated player Madison Dana (Lynn, Mass.) and freshman first baseman Morgan Cournoyer (Burrillville, R.I.) garnered second team honors to round out the Bears' eight All-MASCAC selections.

Ruprecht is making her third straight appearance on the All-MASCAC Team as she garnered second team honors in both 2018 and 2019. Reichert was also named as a first team selection in 2019, while Synan, McLaughlin, Healy, Sharon, Dana and Cournoyer are all making their first appearance on the All-MASCAC Team.

In 22 appearances (15 starts) in the circle this season, Reichert is 14-7 with 11 complete games and a two shutouts. She has fanned 97 batters in 111 innings of work and sports a 2.40 earned run average.

Reichert currently leads the MASCAC in wins and strikeouts and is tied for the league lead in complete games. She also ranks second in the conference in games started and innings pitched, ranks third in ERA and is tied for second in both appearances and shutouts.

At the plate, Reichert is batting .361 (26-72) with eigth doubles, three triples, 15 runs scored, 15 RBI and a .556 slugging percentage. She is tied for second in the MASCAC in triples, and ranks third in doubles, eighth in slugging percentage and tenth in batting average.

In 53 games (41 starts) over three seasons with the Bears, Reichert is 25-18 with 30 complete games, five shutouts and one save. She has also struck out 173 batters over 280 2/3 innings and has a career ERA of 2.67.

Reichert earned MASCAC Pitcher of the Week honors three times this season and was named the MVP of the 2021 MASCAC Championship Series.

Ruprecht has started all 27 games in centerfield and is batting .425 (34-80) with five home runs, seven doubles, eight walks, three stolen bases, 22 runs scored and 24 RBI. She is also sporting a .478 on base percentage and an impressive .700 slugging percentage.

Ruprecht currently leads the MASCAC in slugging percentage and is tied for the conference lead in home runs. She also ranks second in the MASCAC in batting average and runs batted in, third in both hits and on base percentage, and is tied for fourth in doubles and runs, and tied for eighth in walks.

In 115 games over four seasons with the Bears, Ruprecht is a career .330 (116-352) hitter with nine home runs, 23 doubles, one triple, eight stolen bases, 66 runs scored and 81 RBI. She also has 17 walks, six sacrifice flies and ten sacrifice bunts to her credit as well as a .361 on base percentage and a .477 slugging percentage.

Ruprecht earned MASCAC Player of the Week honors back on May 3rd.

In 25 games this season, Synan is batting .371 (26-70) with a pair of home runs, six doubles, six walks, 17 runs scored and 20 RBI. She also sports a .430 on base percentage as well as a .543 slugging percentage.

Synan currently ranks fourth in the MASCAC in runs batted in and tenth in slugging percentage. She is also tied for fifth among the conference leaders in both batting average and on base percentage, and tied for eighth in doubles.

In 53 games over three season with the Bears, Synan has posted a career batting average of .320 (48-150) with five home runs, eight doubles, 28 runs scored and 32 RBI. She also has a career ..473 slugging percentage and a .383 on base percentage.

Synan earned MASCAC Player of the Week honors twice in 2021.

In 25 games this season (24 at second base), McLaughlin is batting .362 (25-69) with four home runs, a triple, five doubles, eight walks, five stolen bases, 21 runs scored and 18 RBI. She also checks in with a .430 on base percentage as well as a .638 slugging percentage.

McLaughlin currently ranks fourth in the MASCAC in slugging percentage and is tied for fourth in home runs, tied for fifth in on base percentage, tied for seventh in runs batted in and tied for eighth in walks. She also ranks ninth in the conference in both batting average and runs scored.

Healy has started all 27 games in right field and is batting .364 (32-88) with ten doubles, nine walks, five stolen bases, 22 runs scored and 23 RBI to go along with a .418 on base percentage and a .477 slugging percentage.

Healy currently ranks second in the MASCAC in doubles, third in runs batted in, sixth in hits, seventh in walks and eighth in on base percentage. She is also tied for fourth in the conference in runs scored and tied for seventh in batting average.

In 70 games over three seasons with the Bears, Healy sports a career .315 batting average (58-184) with 16 doubles, 12 stolen bases, 40 runs scored and 34 RBI. She has also recorded 15 walks and seven sacrifice bunts as well as a career .361 on base percentage and .402 slugging percentage.

Sharon has started all 27 games at shortstop and is batting .364 (36-99) with seven doubles, three triples, eight stolen bases, 22 runs scored and 15 RBI. She is also sporting a .394 on base percentage and a .495 slugging percentage.

Sharon ranks second in the MASCAC with 36 hits and is tied for second in triples. She is also tied for third in the conference in stolen bases, tied for fourth in both doubles and runs scored, and tied for seventh in batting average.

In 75 games over three seasons with the Bears, Sharon is batting .341 (86-252) with two home runs, four triples, 16 doubles, 19 walks, 17 stolen bases, 57 runs scored and 48 RBI. She checks in with a career .385 on base percentage and a .460 slugging percentage.

Dana has appeared in nine games as a designated player, six at catcher and four as a pinch hitter. She is batting .250 (13-52) with a pair of home runs, three doubles, four walks, eight runs scored and nine RBI to go along with a .316 on base percentage and a .423 slugging percentage.

Dana is currently tied for tenth in the MASCAC in home runs.

Cournoyer has put together an outstanding rookie season as she batting .375 (21-56) in 23 games with three home runs, two doubles, 14 runs scored and eight RBI. Cournoyer has also walked eight times, been hit by a pitch seven times and sports an impressive .507 on base percentage as well as a .571 slugging percentage.

Cournoyer, who has appeared in 21 games at first base and two as a DP, leads the MASCAC in getting hit by a pitch, and ranks second in on base percentage and fourth in batting average. She is also seventh in the conference in slugging percentage and is tied for eighth in both home runs and walks.

Cournoyer was recently named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III All-New England Third Team. She also earned MASCAC Rookie of the Week honors back on May 3rd.

The BSU softball team will begin NCAA Division III Tournament play on Friday, May 21st as the Bears (17-9-1) will compete at a six-team regional hosted by defending Division III champion Texas Lutheran University in Seguin, Texas. The MASCAC Champion Bears are the number five seed in the regional and will take on second-seeded Emory & Henry College.

Notes: The MASCAC first instituted the Pitcher of the Year award in 2010. Reichert joins Kelly McCarthy (2016) and Amber White (2012, 2013, 2014) as the Bears' Pitcher of the Year honorees.
