BOSTON, Mass. -- BSU graduate student Kevin McBirney (East Bridgewater, Mass.) broke his own school indoor record in the 800-meter run as several members of the Bridgewater State University men's indoor track & field team took part in the John Thomas Terrier Classic on Saturday at Boston University.
The participating teams included Division I schools from throughout the country.
McBirney had a 10th-place finish in the 800 with a record time of 1:51.79. The East Bridgewater, Massachusetts product eclipsed his previous indoor mark of 1:52.54 set last year at the Bruce Lehane Scarlet and White Invitational. Tom Breen of Division I Providence College won the event in 1:50.48.
McBirney's teammate, junior Aydan Fournier (Assonet, Mass.) was 35th in the event that featured 135 runners with a time of 1:54.62.
BSU junior Matthew Mooney (Douglas, Mass.) was in two events.
