Stalters Leads Men's Track & Field at DIII New Englands

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Senior Corey Stalters (Norton, Mass.) captured the New England title in the javelin to lead the Bridgewater State University men's track & field team during day one of the 2023 Division III New England Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Springfield College.

Stalters tossed the javelin a season-best 202 feet, ten inches (61.84m) to outdistance the field.

Junior Thomas Barinelli (Tewksbury, Mass.) and freshman Chris Beaulieu (Monson, Mass.) earned All-New England honors in the long jump. Barinelli placed fifth with a career-best leap of 22 feet, 11.75 inches (7.00m), while Beaulieu finished seventh in the event with a collegiate-best mark of 22 feet, 8.50 inches (6.92m).

Sophomore Chigozie Adigwe (Lowell, Mass.) finished third in the preliminaries of the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.81 seconds as he advanced to Saturday's finals.

Barinelli also finished 13th in the preliminaries of the 110-meter hurdles (15.37), while Ryker King (Wareham, Mass.) checked in at 16th (15.62).

Junior Jason Dann (Reading, Mass.) finished 15th in the hammer throw with a career-best toss of 156 feet, seven inches (47.73m).

Graduate student Jacob DeAndrade (Taunton, Mass.) and seniors Blake Kerwin (Rehoboth, Mass.) and Mason Matias (New Bedford, Mass.) finished 17th (11.00), 19th (11.06) and 25th (11.13), respectively, in the preliminaries of the 100-meter dash.

Freshman Kyle Ackroyd (Charlestown, R.I.) finished 16th in the 10,000-meter run (33:43.63).

The two-day Division III New England Championships will conclude on Saturday with events getting underway at 10:00 AM.
