LA CROSSE, Wisc. -- Bridgewater State University senior Michael McPherson garnered All-American honors in the men's shot put at the 2013 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse on Saturday.

McPherson finished fourth in the shot put as he broke his own school record with a heave of 56 feet, three inches (17.14 meters).  He eclipsed his previous mark of 55 feet, 7.50 inches (16.95 meters) set at last season's NCAA outdoor championships.

BSU junior Joshua Danner-Hicks (Haverhill, Mass.) placed 15th in the triple jump with a leap of 46 feet, eight inches (14.22 meters).  Danner-Hicks was making his first appearance at the national championship meet.
