Smithfield, RI --- Sophomore Felix Mensah (Lowell, MA) clocked fifth for an outdoor season-best time in the 100 meters (11.17) before he placed ninth in the 200 meters (23.10) as he helped pace the Bridgewater State men's outdoor track and field team at the non-scoring Bryant Invitational.
The meet featured primarily Division I teams from around New England while MASCAC rival Worcester State, Southern Maine and other local community colleges and track clubs were also in attendance.
Freshman Joshua Danner-Hicks (Bedford, MA) also had a leap of fourth in the triple jump (13.14m) while classmate Matthew Horan (Billerica, MA) tied for 10th in the 110 meter hurdles (16.27).
Junior Matthew Chatham (Charlton, MA) added eighth in the pole vault (2.89m) while third-year teammates Jeff Sousa (N. Dighton, MA) and David Granato (Upton, MA) were seconds apart in the 5,000 in 10th (16:13.26) and 12th (16:16.58), respectively.
The sprinters were also led by rookie Joseph Danner-Hicks (Bedford, MA) who notched 16th in the 100 (11:52), sophomore Mohammed Malik (W. Bridgewater, MA) in the 200 (23:76, 25th), and junior Dan Rutledge's (Middleboro, MA) 30th place time in the 800 (2:13.81).
In the field sophomore Stephan Cawley (Dedham, MA) had a 12th place toss in the discus (39.27m) as freshman William Caseley (Abington, MA) heaved 21st in the javelin (42.29m).
Chatham rounded out the finishers with a 16th place showing in the discus (38.18m).
Next week the Bears will compete at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational.
