BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – A pair of Bridgewater State men's indoor track records fell as the Bears competed at the non-scoring Tufts Invitational II on Saturday.
Junior Andrew Corley (Milton, Mass.), sophomore Felix Mensah (Lowell, Mass.) and freshmen Joseph Danner-Hicks (Haverhill, Mass.) and Joshua Danner-Hicks (Haverhill, Mass.) broke the school mark in the 4 x 200-meter relay with a time of 1:34.21. They eclipsed the previous BSU standard of 1:34.66 set in 2007.
Corley, Mensah and the Danner-Hicks twins placed second in the event at the meet and also qualified for the ECAC Division III Championships.
Mensah added a fourth place finish in the 60-meter dash as he posted a time of 7.11 seconds in the finals.
Sophomore Stephan Cawley (Dedham, Mass.) broke his own school record in the shot put as he placed first at the meet with a distance of 48 feet 0.75 inches (14.65m). Cawley previously set the mark two weeks ago at the Wesleyan Invitational III with a put of 48 feet (14.63m).
Next weekend, the Bears will compete in the MASCAC and New England Alliance Championships hosted by Rhode Island College.
