Men's Track Places 4th at MASCAC Indoor Championships

GORHAM, Maine -- The Bridgewater State College Bears finished in fourth place at the 2009 Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Indoor Track and Field Championships held at the University of Southern Maine on Saturday.

Sophomore Ryan D'Arcangelo (Norfolk, MA) paced the Bears as he captured the MASCAC title in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:59.78. 

The Bears tallied a score of 37 points finishing behind Worcester State (56 pts), Fitchburg State (156 pts) and MASCAC champions Westfield State (241 pts).  

D'Arcangelo also ran a leg in the 4 x 800 relay along with junior Brian Stewart (Scituate, MA) and freshmen Mike Sukeforth (Middleboro, MA) and William Taft (Hanson, MA). Bridgewater placed second in the event with a time of 8:39.34.

Junior Nicholas Ferrara (Swansea, MA) notched a second place finish in the high jump as he posted a height of 1.81 meters.  The Bears 4 x 400 relay team of sophomore Chris Dagostino (Littleton, MA), junior Sammie Ervan (Carver, MA) and freshmen Kevin White (Swansea, MA) and Brent Gleason (Framingham, MA) also placed second with a time of 3:52.66.
