MILTON, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University men's tennis team made it three straight wins on Wednesday afternoon.
The Bears scored a 7-0 non-conference victory over Curry College at the Scott Tennis Courts, improving to 4-3. Bridgewater has won ten of the last 12 meetings of the two teams.
BSU, which did not lose a set, began the day with a sweep of the three doubles matches.
Junior Adam Beatrice (Rockland, Mass.) and sophomore Khiem Nguyen (Burlington, Vt.) were winner at No. 1 doubles, 6-3, over junior Eric Flynn (Wareham, Mass.) and sophomore Maitreya Abend (West Whately, Mass.).
At No. 2, junior Tom Ayson (Plymouth, Mass.) and sophomore Anthony Lucas (Weymouth, Mass.) defeated junior Jake Perrotte (Colchester, Mass.) and graduate student George Vonakis (Abington, Md.), 6-0.
The No. 3 team of freshman Tyler Rocchio (Attleboro, Mass.) and junior Tyler Hebert (Taunton, Mass.) won over freshman Nicholas Cirelli (Winthrop, Mass.) and sophomore Leo Katz (Fairfield, Conn.), 6-0.
Beatrice prevailed at No. 1 singles with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Flynn while Ayson was a 6-2, 6-1 winner over Abend at No. 2.
Nguyen took No. 3 for BSU, defeating Perrotte, 6-1, 6-0, and senior Matthew Krampf (Littleton, Mass.) won at No. 4, downing Vonakis, 6-4, 6-3.
Rocchio was a 6-0, 6-0 winner over Cirelli at No. 5 while Lucas took No. 6 by the same score over Katz.
The Bears return to the Little East Conference next Tuesday when they are at Rhode Island College for a 3:30 p.m. match.
Curry (0-10) will host Saint Joseph's of Connecticut on Thursday at 3:30 p.m.
