Men's Tennis Drops 8-1 Decision to Roger Williams

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – The Roger Williams University men's tennis team posted an 8-1 victory over host Bridgewater State University on Wednesday afternoon at the Rosen Memorial Courts in Bridgewater.

The visiting Hawks even their season record at 6-6, while the Bears drop to 2-2.

Junior Jeff DeNunzio (Barrington, R.I.) paced Roger Williams as he posted a 6-0, 6-3 straight set win at first singles and teamed with sophomore Jason Pacino (North Reading, Mass.) for an 8-0 triumph at second flight doubles.  Pacino also won in straight sets at fourth singles, 6-0, 6-1.

Junior Kevin Erikson (Tolland, Ct.) added a 6-0, 6-1 singles victory at the second flight and paired with senior Dan Kleitz (Wethersfield, Ct.) for a an 8-1 decision at the top doubles spot.

Bridgewater State senior Nicholas Amrose (Arlington, Mass.) picked up the Bears' lone win of the afternoon at third singles.  Amrose was down a set but up 5-4 in the second when his opponent was forced to retire due to injury. 

Bridgewater will travel to Clark university on Thursday afternoon (3:30) for a non-conference match with the Cougars.  Roger Williams hosts Commonwealth Coast Conference foe Regis College on Saturday at one.
