Salem, Mass. -- The Salem State Vikings
defeated the Bridgewater State Bears, 6-3, in a battle of
undefeated Little East Conference foes on Saturday afternoon.
Salem State kept their regular season title hopes alive with the
win as they remained unbeaten in conference play at 4-0 and
improved to 5-6 overall. Bridgewater State fell to 2-1 in the
Little East and 6-5 on the season.
Adrien Malosse (Triel Sur Seine, France) won his
sixth straight top flight singles match, 6-1, 6-1 over Matt
Mailhot (Oxford, MA) as Salem State won four out of the
six matches.
Bridgewater State received singles victories from
Armindo Rocha (Brockton, MA) at number two and
Justin Lipomi (Lowell, MA) at number five.
Salem State also claimed two of the three doubles matches over
Bridgewater State. Mailhot and Mike Zagame
(Uxbridge, MA) posted an 8-4 victory at the second flight for the
Bears’ only doubles win.
Salem State next travels to UMass-Boston for a match on Tuesday,
April 27th while Bridgewater State takes on Southern Maine.
