Men’s Tennis Knocks Off Western Connecticut, 7-2

BRIDGEWATER, MASS. -- The Bridgewater State College men's tennis team defeated Western Connecticut State University, 7-2, in the Bears' Little East Conference opener on Tuesday afternoon.

BSC won five of six singles matches and two of the three doubles flights as the Bears improved to 5-4 overall and 1-0 in the Little East.

Senior Matt Charest (Somerset, MA) won the battle of the top singles players as he won in straight sets, 7-5, 6-2.  Freshman Duncan Yarworth (Wrentham, MA) posted a 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 triumph at second singles.

Sophomore Justin Lipomi (Lowell, MA) earned a 6-2, 6-3 victory at fourth flight singles and also teamed with sophomore Nick Amrose (Arlington, MA) for a 9-8 win at third doubles.

The Bears will host Little East Conference foe UMass Boston on Saturday at noon.
