Men's Swimming & Diving Cruises to 156-70 Win Over Clark

WORCESTER, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University men's swimming & diving team cruised to a 156-70 dual meet victory over Clark University on Saturday afternoon at the Kneller Athletic Center.

The Bears (2-2) captured top honors in 11 of the 13 events.

Junior Cooper Sever (Edgewater, Md.), junior Ryan McKenzie (Charlton, Mass.), junior Desmond Ng (Petaling Jaya, Malaysia) and senior Thomas Roch (Chelmsford, Mass.) opened the meet with a victory in the 200 medley relay as the quartet posted a time of 1:40.85.

The foursome of sophomore Aaron Fowler (Brookline, Mass.), Roch, junior Richard Palanza (Mansfield, Mass.) and sophomore Jirat Saengthong (Watertown, Mass.) closed things out by winning the 200 freestyle relay in a time of 1:30.07.

Ng also picked up wins in the 1,000 freestyle (10:51.00) and the 100 breaststroke (59.22), while Fowler was victorious in both the 100 individual medley (55.09) and the 100 freestyle (48.28).

Sever, McKenzie and Saengthong also recorded individual wins. Sever was the first to touch the wall in the 100 butterfly (55.07) while McKenzie was the top performer in the 50 freestyle (23.36), and Saengthing finished first in the 100 backstroke (59.56).

Bridgewater won both diving events with freshman Theo Roan (Peabody, Mass.) grabbing top honors on the one-meter board with a personal-best score of 184.25 points. Senior Robbie Soucy (Frye Island, Maine) picked up first-place points on the three-meter plank with a score of 128.45 points. 

The Bears are off until Saturday, December 7th (11:00 AM) when they host the BSU Invitational.
