Coach Brendan Adams is in his 24th season as the head coach of the Bridgewater State men's soccer program. Coach Adams was promoted to the head coaching position prior to the 2002 season after serving as as an assistant coach on the staff in 2001. Brendan was also a women's soccer assistant at BSU from 1996 to 1997.

In 2003, in just his second season as head coach, Adams directed the men's team to the program's first MASCAC regular season title since 1994. For his team's performance, he was named the MASCAC Coach of the Year.  The following year, he guided his squad to a berth in the NCAA Division III Tournament, the program's first NCAA bid since the 1990 season. The Bears advanced to the second round of the NCAAs before ending the season with a record of 12-7-2.  The 2004 Bears, however, picked up their first ever NCAA tournament victory and won the MASCAC Tournament championship for the first time in school history.

In 2007, the Bears posted a record of 8-11-2 and earned a spot in the MASCAC Tournament for the seventh straight season.  Seeded fourth in the tournament, BSU went on the road to knock off Framingham State in the semifinals and Salem State in the championship game as the Bears advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the second time in four years.

In 2009, Brendan was again named MASCAC Coach of the Year as the Bears won the MASCAC regular season title with a 6-0-1 conference mark.  The 2010 squad posted a record of 13-6 and advanced to the conference tournament for the tenth straight year.

Brendan guided the 2013 squad to the MASCAC Tournament championships and the program's fourth NCAA Tournament appearance. In 2014, he was named MASCAC Coach of the Year for the third time as he directed the Bears to a 9-7-1 mark and the MASCAC regular season title.

Brendan earned his fourth MASCAC Coach of the Year accolade in 2015 when he guided the squad to a program record 17 wins (17-4-1) with a perfect 7-0-0 mark in the conference. The Bears captured the MASCAC Tournament title and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the fifth time in program history.

In 2018, Brendan directed the Bears (11-7-1) to their fifth MASCAC Tournament crown and sixth NCAA Tournament appearance.

Brendan picked up his fifth MASCAC Coach of the Year award in 2023 as he guided the Bears to their sixth MASCAC Tournament championship and seventh NCAA Tournament appearance. The squad hit the ten-win mark for the ninth time in Adams' tenure as the Bears went 12-3-5 and finished atop the MASCAC regular season standings with a 6-0-1 conference mark.

Adams made it back-to-back MASCAC Coach of the Year awards in 2024 as the Bears posted another double-digit win season (10-5-3) and finished 6-1 in conference play.

In 2025, Adams directed the Bears to their seventh MASCAC Tournament title and eighth NCAA Tournament appearance. The Bears hit the ten-win mark for the 11th time and garnered the MASCAC regular season title outright with a 6-1-1 conference record.

Brendan's coaching record at BSU stands at 219-173-45 (.553), with an impressive 102-41-18 (.689) mark in conference regular season matches. He became the men's soccer program's all-time winningest coach in 2008 as he surpassed Luis Reis who won 56 games from 1992 to 1996. Brendan's 100th coaching victory came on October 20, 2012, a 1-0 win at MCLA. His 200th win came on October 2, 2024, a 1-0 victory at home over Salve Regina.

A 1996 graduate of Stonehill College, Adams received his Masters Degree in Physical Education from Springfield College in 2001. He also holds a National Diploma from the NSCAA. A native of Sherborn, Massachusetts, Brendan is currently the home events coordinator in the Athletics & Recreation Department and teaches activity classes in the Department of Movement Arts.
