Cameron Walty Named MASCAC Men's Soccer Rookie of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the third straight week and fifth time this season, Bridgewater State University freshman forward Cameron Walty has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Soccer Rookie of the Week.

Walty scored a goal and added a pair of assists for four points last week during the Bears’ MASCAC Tournament title run. The Weymouth, Massachusetts product potted a goal and assisted on the game-winner in a 4-1 semifinal round win over Salem State. He also assisted on the game-winning goal in the 85th minute as the Bears captured the tournament championship with a 1-0 shutout victory over Mass. Maritime.

In 16 games this season, including nine starts, Walty has six goals (one game-winner) and three assists for 15 points. He is tied for eighth among the MASCAC leaders in goals and tied for ninth in scoring.

Walty also garnered MASCAC Rookie of the Week honors on September 22nd, September 29th, October 27th and November 3rd.

The BSU men's soccer team is currently 13-5-1 on the season. By virtue of the MASCAC Tournament championship, the Bears advanced to the NCAA Division III Tournament for the eighth time in program history and second in the last three years. Bridgewater will take on Rowan University in opening round play on Saturday, November 15th at 1:30 PM on the campus of Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut.
