Souza, Zuber Named to NFHCA All-Region Two Team

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University sophomore forward Samantha Souza and junior midfielder Abbie Zuber have been selected to the 2025 National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) NCAA Division III All-Region Two Team.

Souza garnered first team honors while Zuber was voted to the second team. They are the Bears' first NFHCA all-region selections since Brittany Cullinane in 2016 and the only members of the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) to earn the accolade.

A native of Dartmouth, Massachusetts, Souza set the Bears' single-season record with 33 goals to go along with seven assists for 73 points in 20 games in 2025. She led the MASCAC in both goals and scoring, ranked second in game-winning goals (6) and tied for eighth in assists.

On a national level, Souza finished third in all of Division III in both goals per game (1.65) and points per game (3.65).

Before Souza, the last field hockey Bear to pick up first team all-region status was BSU Hall of Famer Shelby Farland in 2012.

In 39 games (all starts) over her first two seasons with the Bears, Souza has amassed 45 goals and nine assists for 99 points. She is currently fifth all-time in program history in both goals and scoring.

Zuber, who hails from Westport, Massachusetts, set career highs with 20 goals, 13 assists and 53 points in 20 games this season. She led the MASCAC in assists, ranked second in goals and points, and tied for third in game-winning goals (3).

On a national level, Zuber tied for tenth in all of Division III in points per game (2.65), tied for 14th in assists per game (0.65) and tied for 17th in goals per game (1.00).

In 58 games (all starts) over her first three seasons with the Bears, Zuber checks in with 29 goals and 26 assists for 84 points. She is the program's all-time leader in assists and is tied for seven in scoring as well as tenth in goals.

Souza and Zuber helped the BSU field hockey team post a 15-5 record in 2025 including a 10-2 conference mark. The 15 wins are the most for the program since the 2013 squad produced 16 victories.

Seeded second in the MASCAC Tournament, the Bears dropped a tough 2-1 overtime decision to fourth-seeded Worcester State University in the tournament semifinals.
