Bethany Bush Named Little East Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Bridgewater State University senior forward Bethany Bush has been selected as the Little East Conference Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week.

A native of Littleton, Massachusetts, Bush produced five goals and added an assist for 11 points to lead Bridgewater State to a 1-2 mark last week.  She registered at least two points in each of her three matches, all against Little East opponents, to extend her season-long point scoring streak to 13 contests.

Bush notched her second hat trick of the season and dished out an assist in the Bears’ 6-2 victory over Westfield State. She also found the back of the net in overtime setbacks to Framingham State and Southern Maine.

In 13 games this season Bush has amassed 16 goals and six assists for 38 points, all team highs.  She currently ranks third in the Little East in both goals and points, and is tied for fourth in assists.

In 70 games over four seasons at Bridgewater, Bush has 41 goals and 21 assists to her credit for a total of 103 points. She became just the second player in BSU field hockey history to reach the 100-point milestone in the loss to Framingham, joining Bears’ all-time scoring leader Karen Croteau who collected 186 points from 1979 to 1982.

The Bridgewater State field hockey team is presently 8-6 on the season and tied for third in the Little East standings with a 7-3 conference mark.  The Bears host University of New England on Tuesday night at seven and then entertain Little East rival Plymouth State University in the regular season finale on Saturday at five.  A win over the Panthers on Saturday would give BSU the second-seed for next week’s conference tournament.
