Equestrian Team Wraps Up Fall Season at ABD Equestrian Farm Show

NORFOLK, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University equestrian team wrapped up the fall portion of the schedule on Sunday at the ABD Equestrian Farm Show hosted by Boston College and Babson College.

The Bears had another wonderful day in the ring, placing fifth overall at the beautifully run show, bringing strong rides, team spirit and great attitudes throughout the day.

Junior Abigail Abbott (Wareham, Mass.) kicked things off in open flat, placing 3rd aboard Smalls before hopping on Gus for open fences, where she delivered a lovely, composed trip.

Senior Emily Desmond (Braintree, Mass.) followed in open flat on Gotham, earning a steady 3rd-place finish, then continued the momentum in intermediate over fences on Denver with a fantastic trip that secured 1st place.

Sophomore Julia Max (Salem, N.H.) rode Ringo in limit flat for a well-earned 3rd place, then switched to Montra in limit fences to take home an impressive 2nd place.

Sophomore Melanie Schick-Fernandez (Abington, Mass.) added to the team's strong limit flat rides, guiding Goose through a lovely round to place 3rd.

Junior Alyson McKeon (Worcester, Mass.) followed aboard Montana in limit flat, securing 4th place and officially qualifying for regionals.

Sophomore Becky Costa (Foxborough, Mass.) started us off in novice with a great ride on Goose, earning a 5th-place finish.

Freshman Angelina Ferrara (Dartmouth, Mass.) kicked off the pre-novice division with a beautiful trip on Ringo, placing 2nd and pointing up into novice.

Junior Rahima Ali (New York, N.Y.) led the way in introductory, riding Goose to a confident and well-deserved 2nd place.

Senior Antonina O'Grady (Holbrook, Mass.) also represented the Bears in introductory, putting in another consistent ride on Regatta to finish 5th in a competitive class.

The Bears wrapped up a strong fall season and are excited to keep training, growing, and coming back even stronger as they head into the spring season after the New Year.
