Equestrian Places Fourth at Dorbill Stables Show

By Emily Desmond

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University equestrian team proudly hosted its first home show in six years on Sunday at Dorbill Stables in Bridgewater.

What an amazing day it was with incredible support from the team, staff, family, friends, and fellow schools, as the Bears finished fourth overall.

Junior Abigail Abbott (Wareham, Mass.) kicked off the day in style, winning first place in open flat aboard Scipio, then returning on Scipio to earn first place again in open over fences. Abbott went on to ride off for high point rider and secured reserve high point rider of the day.

Senior Emily Desmond (Braintree, Mass.) rode Octavious in open flat to a strong second place, then piloted Lizzy in intermediate over fences for another second place finish.

Senior Rianne Wyckstrom (Hudson, Mass.) delivered a solid ride on Sebastian, earning fifth place and qualifying for regionals.

Sophomore Julia Max (Salem, N.H.) rode Zinka to a smooth third place in limit over fences and then returned on Ferdy for a lovely trip earning sixth place.

Freshman Angelina Ferrara (Dartmouth, Mass.) had a flawless ride on Uno and took home first place in pre-novice.

Freshman Julia Ouellette (Millbury, Mass.) made her IHSA debut in pre-novice, riding Ferdy to a great fifth place finish.

Senior Maeve Murray (Marshfield, Mass.) stepped in confidently on Zandola in pre-novice, securing sixth place.

Freshman Chelsea Murphy (Raynham, Mass.) also made her IHSA debut today, riding Blaze in introductory and earning fourth place.

Junior Rahima Ali (New York, N.Y.) wrapped up our day beautifully with a lovely ride on Major in introductory, securing second place.

We are so proud of every rider, supporter, volunteer, and coach for making our home show such a success. Huge thank you to everyone who came out — what a Great Day to be a Bear! We will be heading to ABD Equestrian Farm in Norfolk, Mass. on November 16th for a show hosted by Boston College.
