Trey Yesu Named MASCAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University senior righthander Trey Yesu has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Baseball Pitcher of the Week.

Yesu tossed a nine-inning, complete game, five-hit shutout in the Bears’ 6-0 MASCAC win over Anna Maria College last week. The Monson, Massachusetts product walked just one and struck out seven as the Bears secured the conference regular season title outright and the top seed in the this week’s MASCAC Tournament.

In nine appearances for the Bears this season, all starts, Yesu sports a 4-3 record with three complete games, two shutouts and a 3.93 earned run average. He has also fanned 38 batters over 52 2/3 innings of work.

Yesu is currently tied for third in the MASCAC in games started, ranks fourth in complete games, fifth in innings pitched and seventh in WHIP (1.31). He is also tied for seventh in wins and ranks ninth in ERA.

In 46 career appearances (34 starts) over four seasons with the Bears, Yesu has produced a record of 18-12 with seven complete games, five shutouts, 168 strikeouts and a 3.72 ERA over 220 innings.

The MASCAC Pitcher of the Week honor marks the third of Yesu's career.

The BSU baseball team wrapped up the regular season with an overall record of 27-8 (21-3 MASCAC). The top seed in this week's MASCAC Tournament, the Bears will take on either fourth-seeded Anna Maria or fifth-seeded Westfield State University on Thursday afternoon at approximately three o'clock.
