Week Ahead: Monday, Sept. 22 to Sunday, Sept. 28

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Here's a look at the week ahead (Sept. 22-28) for the Bridgewater State University athletics teams:

TUESDAY

WOMEN'S TENNIS, at Simmons, 4:00 PM: The Bears travel to the Daly Field Athletic Complex in Brighton for their first road match after six at home.

BSU (2-4, two straight losses) and Simmons (5-4-4, two straight losses) will meet for the first time.

VOLLEYBALL, at home, Mass. Maritime Academy, 6:00 PM: The Bears and the Buccaneers begin the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference schedule at the Tinsley Gym.

BSU is off to a 6-3 start, including 3-0 at home, and defeated Mass. Maritime, 3-0, last season.

The Buccaneers are 4-7 overall.

FIELD HOCKEY, at Anna Maria, 7:00 PM: BSU is on the road in Paxton, Mass., to go against the AMCATS at Caparso Field.

The Bears are 5-1, 2-0 in the MASCAC, with a two-game winning streak.

Anna Maria is 1-5 and 0-1 in the conference.

MEN'S SOCCER, at home, Emerson, 7:00 PM: The teams meet for the first time in a non-conference matchup.

BSU is 3-4, including 1-2 at Mazzaferro Field, while Emerson, a member of the NEWMAC, is 3-2-2 overall.

WEDNESDAY

WOMEN'S SOCCER, at home, Roger Williams, 7:00 PM: The Bears were edged by the Hawks, 2-1, last season in Rhode Island.

BSU (3-4) will be looking for its first non-conference win while Roger Williams is 4-1-2.

THURSDAY

WOMEN'S TENNIS, at the Grass Court Doubles Tournament, 11:30 AM: The Bears will be at the International Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport, R.I.

BSU was one of five teams competing a year and was represented by three doubles teams.

SATURDAY

MEN'S SOCCER, at Westfield State, 11:00 AM: The Bears had a 17-0-5 streak in MASCAC regular-season and tourney games ended by the Owls last season.

It was BSU's first conference loss since 2022.

Westfield State entered the week 4-1-1 and 1-0-1 in the MASCAC.

VOLLEYBALL, at Westfield State, 11:00 AM: A rematch of the MASCAC tourney title game takes place. BSU won the championship last November, rallying for a 3-2 win.

Westfield State began the week 5-7 overall.

WOMEN'S SOCCER, at home, Westfield State, Noon: The Owls were edged by BSU, 3-2, in the conference tourney title game at Mazzaferro Field.

The Owls started this week 2-0 in the conference, 2-4-1 overall.

FIELD HOCKEY, at Dean College, Noon: The Bears are 4-0 against Dean since 2021. Dean is 4-5 entering the week.

FOOTBALL, at Framingham State, Noon: The Bears finish September with a trip to Framingham.

BSU is 1-2, 1-1 in the MASCAC, while the Rams are 2-1 and 2-0.

The Bears defeated Framingham State in 2024, 41-0, and have won three straight in the series.

WOMEN'S TENNIS, at Southern Maine, 1:00 PM: The Bears are 21-0 in a series that began in 2004.

The match will take place at Gorham High School. The Huskies are 2-4, 1-1 in the Little East.

MONDAY

MEN'S SOCCER, at UMass Boston, Noon: The Bears and Beacons will be at the BC High junior varsity field for a non-conference game.

The teams tied, 1-1, a year ago. UMass Boston is 4-2-2.
