BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Here's a look at the week ahead (March 17-23) for the Bridgewater State University athletics teams:
TUESDAY
SOFTBALL, UMass Dartmouth, at home, 3:00 and 5:00 PM: The Bears play at Alumni Park for the first time this season after opening with a 6-2 spring break trip in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
BSU puts a five-game winning streak on the line in the doubleheader with the Corsairs.
UMass Dartmouth swept the Bears, 3-1 and 15-1, last season. The Corsairs, who will be playing their first game since returning from Florida, are 7-2.
MEN'S TENNIS, at Thomas, 4:00 PM: The defending Little East Conference champions Bears travel to Maine for the 2025 season opener.
BSU defeated the Terriers, 9-0, last season. Thomas is now a member of the Empire 8 Conference.
The Bears made their first trip to the NCAA Division III tournament last spring.
WEDNESDAY
BASEBALL, at Dean College, 3:30 PM: The Bears (3-6) won three of their last five games during an eight-game trip to Myrtle Beach, S.C.
BSU lost to Dean, 6-5, last season.
The Bulldogs are 1-8, including 1-4 during a trip to Fort Myers, Fla.
WOMEN'S LACROSSE, Coast Guard, at home, 6:00 PM: The Bears are back home after winning a pair of games in Hilton Head, S.C., to improve to 6-1.
BSU lost at Coast Guard (2-2) last season, 14-7. This is the sixth straight season the teams will be playing.
This will be the Women's History Month Game for the lacrosse team.
THURSDAY
MEN'S TENNIS, Wentworth, at home, 3:30 PM: The Bears have their first home match of the season, going against the Leopards.
BSU lost to Wentworth, 6-3, last season and has lost five of the last seven meetings.
The Leopards lost four recent matches in Orlando, Fla., and are 1-7.
SATURDAY
BASEBALL, Worcester Polytechnic Institute (DH), at Northborough, Noon and 3:00 PM: The Bears and Engineers meet at the New England Baseball Complex.
The teams played twice in Myrtle Beach, S.C., last week with WPI sweeping, 10-5 and 7-4. BSU allowed 26 hits and made four errors in the doubleheader.
WOMEN'S LACROSSE, at Emmanuel, 3:00 PM: The Bears defeated Emmanuel, 16-12, in the first meeting between the two programs last season.
Camryn Gonsalves and Erin McIntyre combined for 11 goals and four assists. Emmanuel is off to a 3-3 start.
The game will be played at Roberto Clemente Field in Boston.
EQUESTRIAN, at the ABD Equestrian Farm, 9:00 AM: The Bears have their final show before taking part in the IHSA Zone 1, Region 4 Show on March 29.
Boston College is serving as the host of this show, the third of the spring semester, in Norfolk.
