BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Bridgewater State University freshman Melissa Flynn has been selected as the Little East Conference Women’s Tennis Rookie of the Week.

Flynn posted a 2-0 mark at number six singles to help Bridgewater State earn victories over Gordon College and Suffolk University this past week. The Stoneham, Massachusetts native defeated each of her opponents at sixth-flight singles in straight sets. Flynn also teamed with fellow freshman Rachael Eramo (Rowley, Mass.) to record a pair of victories at third doubles.

At the Newport Grass Court Doubles Tournament this past weekend, Flynn and Eramo went 1-1 out of the Flight C draw with a 9-7 victory over their opponents from Emmanuel College and an 8-4 loss to Division I Holy Cross.

Flynn is unbeaten in three singles matches this season.  She has also teamed with Eramo to post a 4-1 record in doubles play.
