Bob Roscoe Named Head Volleyball Coach

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. - - Bridgewater State College Director of Athletics, John Harper, announced today that Bob Roscoe has been promoted to the position of Head Volleyball Coach. 

Roscoe takes over for Kelly Taylor who resigned at the conclusion of the 2007-2008 academic year.  Taylor compiled a record of 36-37 in two seasons at the helm of the BSC volleyball program.  She directed her teams to back-to-back MASCAC Tournament titles as well as back-to-back NCAA Division III Tournament appearances.

Coach Roscoe will be entering his first season as the Bears' head coach in 2008 after serving three seasons as an assistant on the staff.  Bob came to BSC in 2005 after a two-year stint as an assistant coach at Salve Regina from 2003 to 2004.

"Coach Roscoe brings a wealth of coaching experience to this position," said Harper.  "His years as an assistant for us will pay off through continuation of the systems with which our players have become familiar.  Our players will certainly benefit from their familiarity with Bob and his successful coaching methods." 

"I also want to thank Coach Taylor for her years with BSC volleyball as a player, assistant coach and head coach," Harper added.  "She has had a positive impact in all these areas and I wish her the very best in her future endeavors."

Roscoe began his collegiate coaching career in 1989 at Wheaton College where he served as an assistant coach for the women's volleyball team for 13 years.  During that span, the team won three NEW 8 Championships and made one appearance in the NCAA Division III Tournament.  In 2002, he became the Co-Head Coach at Wheaton and directed them to a 15-16 record before moving on to Salve Regina the following year.

Coach Roscoe also coached in the Junior Olympics for six years in various age groups ranging from 14 to 18 years of age.  He coached in Brockton for two year, Costal for two years and Bay State Juniors for two years.

A 1974 graduate of Oliver Ames High School in North Easton, Massachusetts, Coach Roscoe currently resides in South Easton.
