Natalie Cohen Named MASCAC Volleyball Player of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State College sophomore setter Natalie Cohen has been named the Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Volleyball Player of the Week.

Cohen recorded 95 assists, 34 digs, 12 kills, six aces and six blocks in five matches for the Bears last week which included a 3-0 MASCAC win over Mass. Maritime Academy.

Highlighting her accomplishments last week was a 36-assist, 12-dig, four-block effort in a 3-1 loss to Vassar College on Saturday at the MIT Invitational.  The 36-assist performance was second only to her 41-assist match early this season against Keene State.

Cohen, who played outside hitter for the Bears as a freshman in 2007, made the change to setter earlier this year.  To date this season, she has accumulated 255 assists (6.22 apg) to go along with 84 digs, 32 kills, 14 blocks (four solo) and 11 aces. Cohen is second in the MASCAC in assists behind Framingham State's Heather Winders who has 257 assists in 39 games (6.95 apg).

A native of Marstons Mills, Massachusetts, Cohen registered 135 kills, 124 digs and 18 blocks in 33 matches a year ago during her rookie season.
