A veteran coach in the college ranks, Ed Delgado returned to the Bridgewater State track and field coaching staff in 2014. Most recently, Coach Delgado served as an assistant at Wheaton College for two seasons from 2010 to 2012.
Ed was the Bridgewater State men's and women's track & field and cross country head coach from 1985-2007. He produced 12 All-Americans at Bridgewater State, while his 1996 men's track & field team won the league crown.
Delgado began his coaching career at Brockton High School, where he was an assistant with the girls' track & field team from 1967-68 before heading the program in 1969. From 1970-83, Delgado was the head coach of Brockton High's boys' track & field and cross country teams, as the squad's 4x440-yard relay team set a national record in 1979 that stood until 1996. During Delgado's tenure, his squads won 16 league titles and 12 state championships, and his athletes won more than 50 individual state crowns.
After serving from 1964-66 as a United States Army research assistant at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research in Maryland, Delgado taught biology at Brockton High from 1967-2000. A 1963 graduate of Stonehill College with a degree in pre-med, Delgado earned his Master of Arts in Teaching from Bridgewater State in 1978 and a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in Ceramics in 1986.
