WILLIMANTIC, Conn. – Junior Jayci Andrews (Plymouth, Mass.) won three events to lead the Bridgewater State University women's outdoor track & field team at the 11th Annual Eastern Invitational hosted by Eastern Connecticut State University on Friday.
The Bears placed second in the team standings with 180 points. The host Warriors won the meet with 194 points.
Andrews placed first in the 400-meter run (1:01.42) and the 100-meter hurdles (14.75). She also ran a leg on the Bears' winning 4x100-meter relay along with sophomore Farah Larinard (Boston, Mass.) and juniors Molly McNamara (Hull, Mass.) and Madeline McNamara (Hull, Mass.) The foursome posted a time of 50.35 seconds.
Andrews added a second place performance in the long jump (16'9.75"/5.12m).
Senior Julianna DeVito (North Windham, Conn.) captured top honors in both the shot put (36'5.5"/11.11m) and the hammer throw (133'5"/40.66m), while sophomore Molly Dewar (Grafton, Mass.) placed first in the discus (123'11"/37.76m) and junior Patricia Healion (Medford, Mass.) finished second in the high jump (5'0.5"/1.54m).
Andrews (hurdles, long jump), DeVito (shot), Dewar and Healion all posted Divison III New England Championships qualifying times or marks.
In upcoming action, the Bears host the MASCAC/New England Alliance Championships on Saturday, April 28th at Swenson Field.
