BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – For the third time this season, Bridgewater State University senior Molly Rouillard has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.
Rouillard paced the Bridgewater State women’s outdoor track and field team at the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Championships held at Stonehill College over the weekend as she captured the NEICAAA individual title and eclipsed a 27-year old school record in the 5,000-meter run. The Dartmouth, Massachusetts native posted a time of 16:55.72 to earn All-NEICAAA honors and break Debbie Mueller’s 1986 BSU mark of 17:09.20.
Rouillard currently ranks seventh in all of Division III in both the 5,000 and 10,000-meter runs, and tenth in the 1,500. The top 22 times in each event qualify for the NCAA Division III Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Championships held on May 23-25 at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.
Rouillard advanced to the NCAA Women’s Cross Country Championships back in the fall and placed 50th at the meet. She also competed in the one-mile run at the NCAA Women’s Indoor Track & Field Championships in March and earned All-American honors with a seventh-place finish.
Last season, Rouillard qualified in the 10,000 at the NCAA Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Championships and finished 12th.
The outdoor season continues for Rouillard and the BSU women’s track and field team as qualifying members of the team will compete at the ECAC Division III Championships hosted by Springfield College on Thursday and Friday.
