BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Bridgewater State University freshman Taylor Brochu has been selected as the Little East Conference (LEC) Rookie Swimmer of the Week.
Brochu won three individual events and two relays in the Bears’ first three meets of the season which included a 157.5-52.5 home-opening win over Regis College.
A native of Cotuit, Massachusetts, Brochu placed first in the 100 backstroke (1:07.92) in Bridgewater’s 161-125 loss to Colby-Sawyer College. She also garnered a pair of winning performances in both the 50 freestyle (27.41) and 100 backstroke (1:07.24) events against Regis as well as the 200 freestyle relay (1:51.04). Brochu was also part of the winning 400 medley relay team (4:04.54) in Bridgewater State’s 154-77 loss to Clark University.
This marks the BSU swimming and diving team’s first Little East weekly award winner since joining the conference prior to the 2010-2011 season.
Brochu and her teammates will travel to Western New England University on Saturday, November 5th to take on the Golden Bears. The meet is slated to get underway at noon.
