Johnson, McDermott Named to All-MASCAC Women's Soccer Team

2010 All-MASCAC Women's Soccer Team

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Bridgewater State University was represented with two players on the 2010 Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Soccer All-Conference Team.

Senior defender Aly Johnson (Stamford, Conn.) and junior forward Jordan McDermott (East Bridgewater, Mass.) were both selected to the All-MASCAC Second Team.

The 2010 Bears put up a record of 6-9-1, while being 4-2-1 in the MASCAC. They play MCLA in the semifinal of the conference tournament today at one o’clock.

Johnson was a strong defensive force in the Bridgewater backfield this season. She started all 18 games for the Bears and helped the team post four shutouts and a 1.56 goals against average.  Aly also scored her first collegiate goal as she converted a penalty kick in BSU’s 2-0 win over Salem State.

McDermott led the team in both goals and scoring while starting all games for the Bears in 2010.  She finished with seven goals and three assists for a total of 17 points.  Two of Jordan’s seven markers proved to be game-winners.  McDermott also tied for fourth in the MASCAC in goals and points.

The Bridgewater State women’s soccer team finished the 2010 campaign with an overall record of 6-10-2, including a 4-2-1 mark in conference play.  Seeded fourth at the MASCAC Tournament, the Bears advanced to the conference championship game by besting top-seeded MCLA in a shootout.  Bridgewater then ended the season with a 1-0 loss to number two seed Worcester State in the final.
