Lamothe Named MASCAC Women's Soccer Player of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. - For the second time this season and third time in her career, Bridgewater State College senior forward Kaitlin Lamothe has been selected as the Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Soccer Player of the Week.

A native of Wrentham, Massachusetts, Lamothe netted four goals and two assists for 10 points in 2-0-1 week for Bears.  She tallied of pair of goals in a 2-2 double overtime tie at Plymouth State and then scored a goal and added an assist in the Bears' 4-1 triumph at Salve Regina.

Lamothe capped off the week with a goal and an assist in BSC's 2-0 MASCAC win at Framingham State. The goal was her 18th of the season which is one behind the school single-season record of 19 goals set by Kathy Conley in 1992.

Lamothe leads the team with an impressive 43 points (18 goals, 7 assists) which is the third highest single-season total in BSC women's soccer history. Conley set the school mark with 48 points in 1992 and it was later equaled by Kim Rhodes in 2002.  Lamothe also moved past Kara Kennedy (1987-1989) into fourth place on the Bears all-time scoring list as she now has 67 points in just two seasons at BSC.

Through 14 games this season, Lamothe currently ranks second in the MASCAC in goals and points and is fourth in assists.  She also ranks in the top ten in all of Division III in points and goals scored as well.

The Bears head into the final week of the regular season with a record of 9-2-3 which includes a 5-1 MASCAC mark.  BSC is currently tied for first place in the conference standings along with Westfield State. Bridgewater travels to Keene State College on Wednesday for a non-conference match with the Owls starting at 6:30.  The Bears then wrap up the regular season on Saturday at 10 AM as they travel to Mass. Maritime Academy to take on the Buccaneers.
