All-MASCAC Women's Soccer Team Announced
2007 All-MASCAC Women's Soccer Team
BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State College women's soccer team was well represented on the All-MASCAC Team, fielding six players including three on the First Team. The Bears finished the season with a record of 8-8-1 and tied for third place in the MASCAC standings with a 3-2-1 conference mark.
The Bears advanced to conference tournament play for the eighth straight season but were eliminated in the semifinals with a 1-0 loss to eventual champion Worcester State 1-0.
Senior defender Courtney Mulcahy (Burlington, MA) and sophomore forwards Kaitlin Lamothe (Wrentham, MA) and Christine Soucy (Rockland, MA) were all named to the All-MASCAC First Team.
Mulcahy was a dominant force defensively for the Bears all season before a season-ending injury forced her to the sidelines. Lamothe led the Bears with 11 goals and 24 points. The 11 goals were the most by a BSC women's soccer player since Kim Rhodes notched 18 goals in 2002. Soucy tallied 13 points on the season, with 4 goals and 5 assists.
Earnind Second Team honors for the Bears were sophomore defender Yasmina Carvalho (Brockton, MA) along with junior forward Megan Williamson (Ludlow, MA) and senior midfielder Jessica Chiachio (Stoneham, MA).
Carvalho played rock solid defense for the Bears starting all 17 of the team's games, while Williamson picked up her second All-MASCAC Second Team honor as she finished the season with 19 points with 8 goals and 3 assists.
Chiachio, who tallied 11 points on the season with 4 goals and 3 assists, earned her second straight All-MASCAC honor as she was a First Team selection last season. She wraps up a brilliant career at BSC as the Bears' sixth all-time leading scorer with 48 career points. Chiachio is tied with Jeannie Rooney who played at BSC from 1993 to 1996.
